Best Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis In 2017 (Athletic & Running)

The Right Type And Best Running Athletic Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis

With this condition, you need to get the best shoes for plantar fasciitis where the soles do not bend at all when you take a step. So you need shoes with rigid soles, rather than shoes that have flexible soles. This allows your feet to remain flat at all times when you walk. This stops the process of the windlass mechanism, and allows your fascia to not take too much weight and pressure. This also keeps your foot together, which again reduces pressure from the plantar fascia. Such shoes are available in almost all stores.

Another feature you could look when buying shoes is to have a midway arch in the shoes, which will support the middle of your foot, and reduce pressure from your heel. These types of shoes are available in normal shoe stores, and you should ask for a shoe with an arch. This type of arch support is necessary when you want to reduce stress on your heel and on the plantar fascia, which is already torn, as we discussed.

In summary, we find that when you have plantar fasciitis you need shoes that have rigid soles. You also need shoes that have good arch support, so that you do not put too much weight on your heel and the fascia.

#1 Best Plantar Fasciitis Shoes – Saucony Guide 7

I have recently took charge of my health and decided to make my lifestyle a bit healthier. The first thing that I decided apart from eating healthier is to go for a jog or run on a regular basis. For this, I needed a pair of reliable and high-performance running shoes for use on a daily basis and one of the top recommendations that I received in this regard was Saucony Guide 7. Now, this is the ‘new and improved’ version of the award winning stability shoe from Saucony: Guide 6. This masterpiece itself took 3 years to develop, which is the longest in terms of development initiative in the history of the company! The developers paid attention to every small detail of the shoe so that it would be capable of complementing the runner perfectly in the long run.

One of the things that I like most about the Saucony Guide 7 is its engineered stability. I like shoes that are capable of being stable without being stiff. Guide 7 comes with strategic stability zones which provide top-notch support whilst still staying flexible and providing the feet with proper cushioning. As a runner, if you’re looking for shoes that would go that extra mile and provide you with a little extra support then you certainly cannot go wrong with this one. I am very happy with my decision to purchase it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for high-performance and reliable running shoes.

Other Features Of The Saucony Guide 7 Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis

Another feature of Saucony Guide 7 that I would like to highlight in my review is its heel-to-toe offset, which measures 8mm. This is not just a random digit, but rather one that has been researched thoroughly and picked out after running a thorough test. It was found that an 8mm offset would activate and engage the individual’s ability to spring forward, cushion and stabilize when running. Irrespective of what your stride is as a runner, i.e. whether you land on your forefoot, heel or even mid-foot, the shoes will provide you with optimum comfort.

Researchers responsible for developing Guide 7 understand that running requires the engagement of the entire foot, and not just the areas where the landing and take-off happens. Therefore, the shoe comes with high quality cushioning that enables the individual to spring back quickly and effectively irrespective of how he/she runs.

With so many exciting and useful features onboard, one might expect the Saucony Guide 7 to weigh a ton. I wouldn’t lie, I did so too in the beginning! To my surprise, when I held the shoes in my hand, it was so lightweight. I was extremely impressed with the technologies adopted by Saucony to ensure that the shoes remain light as a feature and still be capable of providing heavy-duty cushioning, durability and support. In my opinion, this is the lightest pair of top class running shoes that I have ever come across, no other running shoes can hold a candle to it when it comes to weight and performance!

The nylon sneakers come in a wide array of colors to choose from, which is interesting because one doesn’t have to stick to just one design. The HydraMAX moisture-wicking collar is another reason why this product is so desirable. Soft but stable, Saucony Guide 7 will go the distance for you since it is an all-around performer, so you definitely don’t need to think twice before deciding to purchase this product. One thing that I have noticed about this shoe is that it works well for all terrains, be it synthetic tracks or regular roads. Thus, you can count on the shoe to never let you down irrespective of where you’re running!

The ‘Powergrid’ insert of the sneakers is what makes all the difference. To be honest, I would have purchased Guide 7 for the inserts alone! The insert is basically cushioned foam that has perforations on strategic areas. It is underlaid over the foam-based strobe layer or sheet. It is then topped over by a drop-in firm footbed. Thanks to these, a firmer footbed of the sneakers is created, which allows for long-term usage.

In conclusion I would like to say that the shoes are so impressive on so many levels that I feel like hoarding another pair just in case this one gets lost or requires replacement, in case of the latter I am sure it wouldn’t be anytime soon!

#3 – Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14

You only know it is a good product when you see the level of love people have for it. This statement describes Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14. This awesome shoe has over the past few years grew to become an athlete’s favorite footwear. The love it receives is owed to the high-quality material, exceptional and cutting-edge design, and the skills of those who manufacture it. With all the work and skills put into making this shoe, it is no wonder why Brooks Adrenaline decided to name this shoe GTS or Go-To-Shoe. So what makes this shoe so special?

It has motion control.

Very few brands of shoes if any have this feature. When I first wore this shoe and took it out for testing during my morning run, I could not believe how well I could run. In fact, I added a few miles to my daily routine. The GTS 14’s sole has a slight curvature that controls your motion thus relatively increasing the number of miles you can do in a day.

Features a multi-density, old school mid-sole aesthetics.

What I also enjoyed about this shoe is its unique design. Though it is quite costly, this shoe is worth every penny spent on it. It features a unique collaboration between old and new design to give you one aesthetically appealing shoe. As the mid-sole enjoys an old school design, the upper sides feature more modern ones that have been brought to life with new technologies such as 3D Fit Print. Its outer-sole and mid-sole also feature rubber cladding and multiple density foams that come together to deliver a very comfortable shoe to wear.

Enjoys premium material.

Quality matters and the designers at Brooks know this very well. The upper part of the GTS 4 is made of high-quality obviously premium materials. Its construction detail is also superb whereby it only includes the good and leaves out the bad. I love the sensation you feel when you put on this shoe. Its padded collar feels so good on the back of your Achilles, something we can attribute to the soft foam used in making it. The shoe also features two types of meshes that line up to secure your ankle. The first time I wore this shoe, I did not feel that tough and irritating feeling of the shoe pressing against your Achilles when running or walking. With the soft and flexible material that bends together with your Achilles in motion, you will love moving around in the GTS 14. The whole length of the collar grips well to the rest of your foot all through to the tongue of the shoe.

The tongue of this shoe also provides a lot of softness as it also features the same mesh used in the Achilles area. The tongue also does not interfere with the movement of the foot. It does not do this because of the built-in inwards flare.

Great grip to your feet.

Another thing that impressed me with Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 is the way it grips your feet. You might be misled into thinking that because it is made of a soft and comfortable material, that this shoe does not grip well. If you thought so, then you are very mistaken. Though the shoe does not have an inner sleeve, its mid-foot area has a superlative grip. The shoe’s lacing design also helps improve its snugness. Even if you do not thread the last eyelet of the shoe, it still feels snug enough.

Beautiful combination of synthetic overlays, 3D Fit Print, and honeycomb textured flat mesh.

The front part of the shoes has plenty of layers. The base, on the other hand, is made of honeycomb textured spacer mesh. Other materials used on the upper part include high-density printing and conventional synthetic leather panels.

Your shoes play a major part in your movement and how far you can go. I can personally attest that Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 is a great brand of shoes for you to wear.

#4 – ASICS Gel Resolution 5

When it comes to sports like Tennis, proper footwear is very important because it provides one with mobility and enables one to be more agile and perform better. When it comes to Tennis shoes, my top preference is ASICS Gel Resolution 5. This particular pair of shoes is best suited for tennis players having an all-around game. The USP of this footwear is its padded upper which provides comfortable cushioning and support. In fact, the shoes are all about comfort; the moment you step in to these you’d be able to experience the comfort it provides, which is a great welcome sign!

The Gel Resolution 5 model is a vast improvement when compared to its predecessor, Gel Resolution 4. In case of the predecessor, there was one feature lacking: flexibility. This isn’t the case with Gel Resolution 5 thanks to the improvements incorporated in the upper and outer soles. Another thing that I really liked about the shoe is that it provides ample ventilation because there is a lot of mesh through the tongue and vamp; thus, there is no need to worry about getting clammy feet anymore or feeling your feet heat up whilst wearing this for a long time in the sun!

There are many interesting features in ASICS Gel Resolution 5 which makes it completely worthwhile to invest in a pair for yourself. The Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System of the shoes attenuates shocks happening in the impact phase, therefore facilitating a smooth transition to mid-stance. This is something that benefits Tennis players immensely. Also, the Solyte Midsole Material is a very light midsole compound which offers enhanced cushioning to the foot and makes the footwear a lot more durable. Another very impressive feature of Gel Resolution 5 is the IGS or Impact Guidance System. Thanks to this system’s linked componentry the shoes are able to enhance the natural gait of the feet from heel strike to toe-off.

Personally, I have very clammy feet and it gets worse when I am engaging in an active sport like Tennis. While the mesh design of ASICS Gel Resolution 5 in the vamp and tongue portion definitely helps a lot, what makes it even better is the premium Comfodry Sockliner feature. The sockliner of the shoe possess high rebound properties and excellent moisture management, thereby rendering a high level of breath-ability to the shoe.

I am more than happy with my purchase of Gel Resolution 5. What I really like about the sneakers is that it is very easy to care for. In case of surface dirt like grit or mud, I just use a soft brush or an old toothbrush along with anti-grease soap/detergent and a bit of warm water. At times, when my Gel Resolution 5 shoes get really dirty, I wash them manually (and not in a washing machine) after taking out the laces, which are washed separately. As for drying, it is important to keep in mind that these shouldn’t be dried in a radiator or a heater because exposure to direct heat will cause the shoe to lose its shape. It takes about 12 hours for the shoes to dry, therefore you should definitely plan ahead before you clean your shoes.

All in all, the ASICS Gel Resolution 5 is indeed a worthwhile purchase. Be it the weight, traction, toe durability, sole durability, foot support or stability, arch support, ventilation or comfort, the footwear scores high on all yardsticks. These are basically high comfort Tennis shoes that provide excellent performance. Moreover, they look great too! With so many benefits on offer, it would be foolish to not invest in a pair for Tennis matches.

#5 – New Balance 990v3

Though I am not an athlete or a runner but I love to have a couple of quality running shoes with long durability and good designs. I have also been a proud owner of quite a few shoes manufactured and marketed by New Balance. It is because of the best fit, marvelous designs and also the ability of shoes to survive ruggedness and harsh running and walking environments that has made me quite a loyal advocate of this shoe brand. So when the New Balance 990v3, I had to buy them and replace my old models with this fabulous looking running shoe.

I got the New Balance 990v3 for casual walking and not mainly for running. The fitting of this shoe is simply amazing and much better than the lower level models that have been launched in the past by New Balance. When purchasing this shoe, I was worried whether it would fit comfortably within my wide feet but I was satisfied with the fit of the shoes. New Balance really provides a fine range of widths in shoes as compared to other shoe brands. Besides the fit, I also wanted to test its ability to last in rough terrain. So, I tried walking in sloppy, muddy and rugged terrain by wearing this new pair of shoes. Voila! it lived up to its promise of durability and did not fall apart as most lower level models do when worn in jagged terrain.

When purchasing this new shoe, I was little anxious if it would provide a strong support for my feet but regular use of this shoes made my worries go away in very little time. They are well-cushioned and I never really felt any kind of shoe itching which is often the case when we wear new shoes. New Balance has taken good quality measures when manufacturing this model of shoes to come up with great cushioned base to help even casual walkers, runners, athletes to experience almost no discomfort when using them.

The best part about New Balance 990v3 shoes is that they do not fall apart or soles do not come off as lower quality model shoes often do with regular use. I was so pissed off with my last pair of shoes because its inner sole came off from the shoe only in a span of few months despite being used only occasionally. I tried several other brands of running shoes but almost the same thing happened. Sometimes, either there was a problem with the fit of the shoes or sometimes they were so tight that wearing them caused shoe bites and strong itching. Many a times, I did not like the leather designing that came with some models of other shoe brands and had to reject them even without digging further into other specifications. After quite a long wait and with little research,

I found what I have been looking for all this while. 990v3 from the New Balance store is the perfect pair of shoes to have and that leaves very little to be desired in anyone owing it.
An athlete friend of mine who also uses this pair for its fantastic fit and high quality highly recommend it to his fellow athletes because of its greater durability and light fit. Moreover, purchase of this new show model is unlikely to cause a hole in the pocket of even price-sensitive buyers. Reasonable price paired with its dual-collar and padded cushions make it a classic choice for runners. After using it, he and other fellowmen would know why New Balance is the king when it comes to manufacturing millions of well-cushioned and high grade athletic footwear in the USA.

Other Much Needed Plantar Fasciitis Shoe Info

What To Look For When Buying Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is a very common problem of the foot, which results in pain in the heel of your foot. In fact, if you have pain in and around your heel, it is likely due to plantar fasciitis. The pain due to plantar fasciitis is normally the worst right after you wake up, and then subsides during the day. The pain increases if you walk or stand a lot. It also increases if you walk barefoot, especially on paved or rough surfaces. The problem is due to structural changes in the Plantar Fascia, which is a tough fibrous sheet that stretches from your toes to your heel bone. Due to excessive walking or pressure on your feet, the plantar fascia tears due to excessive pressure. This is the direct cause of pain in your heel in this condition. The easiest way to diagnose if you have plantar fasciitis is to check for pain early in the morning – if you have much more pain than average, and then the pain subsides after you move around a bit, then you likely have plantar fasciitis. It should be noted that this condition happens independently in each foot. So its likely that you will suffer from plantar fasciitis on just one foot. The other will remain normal and painless.

Precautions to take with Plantar Fasciitis

The primary precaution to take when you have this problem is to not put too much pressure on your heel or foot. Since the foot takes the full weight of the body, and then the weight is transferred on to the plantar fasciitis, this fibrous sheet takes a lot of pressure. When it is torn, it cannot handle the pressure, and it suffers even more. So you should not walk too much or stand a lot when you have this problem.

Another important precaution is to wear shoes whenever you go out or walk a lot. The shoes create a tight cage for the foot, and do not allow the foot to bend or stretch. This reduces the pressure on the plantar fascia, which is what you want to do. The real explanation of why you need shoes for plantar fasciitis has to do with the mechanism of our foot as we walk, which we will discuss further.

Windlass Mechanism and Why you Need Shoes

Your foot is made up of dozens of bones, ligaments, and fascia, that all need to work together before you can take a step. Windlass mechanism refers to the tightening of the plantar fascia as you take your heel off the ground while taking a step. When your heel pushes off the ground, and your weight is resting on your toes, the fascia has to tighten a lot to cater to the changes. The fascia tightens and supports your foot, otherwise the foot will collapse because there is nothing holding it all together.

The fascia is stretched when you put your foot down, but when you lift it up, it is tightened. This is the basic process of the windlass mechanism. When you lift your heel, and your toes are touching the ground, the distance between the heels and toes is shortened, due to the tightening of the plantar fascia.

The reason you need to know this is because when you have plantar fasciitis, your fascia is already torn, so it cannot take too much tension. Then you should not allow your foot to bend in any way. That is where good footwear comes into picture when you have plantar fasciitis. We will now discuss what to look for when buying the best shoes for plantar fasciitis.
